Bootie babies, and other fall necessities to make a cozy and cute fall outfit!

Its fall, FINALLY. Fall, glorious fall. Trying to disguise my summer pit smits no longer plagues me. Praise J. That in itself is enough of a reason to celebrate. But I mean, obviously pumpkin coffee, pumpkin ravioli, roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkins generally* should be celebrated as well. Fall is just the greatest. The thought of wrapping up in a blanket by the fire is so comforting, and yet so unlikely. *Sobs* I guess I will have to settle for the daydream. With the arrival of fall and the cooler temperatures comes fall fashion too! So, I’m giving you my four easy steps (and some super cute options) on how to put together a cute and comfy fall look.

*this does not include the carving of pumpkins because that is a pain in the butt and messy and Trader Joe’s sells pumpkin seeds in a bag.

1. Bootie Babies-The key ingredient to any crisp fall look is a great pair of boots. I was SOOOO freaking excited to pull all of mine out because they are comfy, and can be paired with literally everything. If you are going to invest some money in new boots, think about adding a heel protector. It can add years to your bootie babies. I would also suggest picking a neutral color, that can be paired with lots different things i.e. black, brown or grey. A great boot can make a look!

2. Jeans- The next ingredient to a comfy-yet-stylish fall look is a great pair of jeans. The style is totally up to you. If you are going for a more polished, professional look, think mid rise, dark wash denim without holes or rips. If you want something more casual (my go to) look for slightly distressed dark-but not too dark. My go-to is the slim style from Zara. Its an especially good fit for anyone who has calves and also hates trying to pull skinny jeans over them. For a more boho look, go with a lighter wash and slightly frayed denim. My point, go with whatever denim you love, it all works, #DO YOU.

3. Cozy Sweater-The third step, the classic fall piece: the cozy sweater. My go-to when I’m looking for an uber comfortable outfit. There is always something relaxing about putting on something warm and a little oversized. Its perfect for those, ughhhhhhhh I feel so blah today, days. My favorite colors for the season are burgundy, army green and camel.

4. Scarf -If there is one fashion item that is not praised enough it has to be the scarf. I mean, its fashionable, it can be worn as a shall to keep you warm, it can be made into a blanket for an afternoon picnic. Plus, you can tie it like 800 ways. Don’t ask me what those ways are, I always watch those videos and then forget, but still, the possibilities people. I try to have a variety of scarves in my arsenal (aka closet that kills). Go for patterns here! This is an easy way to add uniqueness and color to your outfit, especially if your going to pair it with a solid colored sweater.

    1. Thanks for your comment! I love jeans with holes no matter your age. But, I think the number/size of holes is important. One to two small holes–great; a whole ripped out thigh area–probably more along the lines of distracting. So, I say go for it as long as the holes are not super super-duper excessive!

  1. I’m really resenting mother nature right now after transitioning my closest last week. Now, it’s summer again. I guess the booties and sweaters will have to wait til next week.
